Ellen Page To Star In Drew Barrymore’s Whip It?

Ellen Page is all over Hollywood right now. The fantastic 20-year-old, who’s new movie Juno is doing phenomenally well in cinemas, is fighting film offers off with a stick (well, that’s not actually true, I doubt she uses a stick… anyway, I’m procrastinating). It has been reported that Ellen Page has been cast for the new Drew Barrymore film, Whip It.

Screenwriter Shauna Cross, in a recent interview with Film School Rejects, has said “Rumor is the lead could be played by an actress whose name rhymes with “Shmellen Shmage.” So, we’re taking that as Ellen Page and running with it, fast.

Whip It, a screen adaptation of Cross’ novel Derby Girl, is about a girl who discovers herself through the world of roller derby. Page’s character is said to be a “pretty, precocious teen full of sarcasm and wit and hijinks”. I think the young actress will rock it.
