Apple MacBook Air Officially: thinnest notebook at Macworld 2008

So it looks like all the rumors over the last couple of days were right, the Apple MacBook Air is real and it’s officially the world’s thinnest notebook, this news comes from Engadget’s coverage of Macworld 2008.

As you can see in the photos on this page, the new Mac notebook is something special and Apple did not want to compromise on anything when looking at all the other THIN laptops already around.
The new MacBook includes a thinness of 0.76 - 0.16-inches (Unprecedented as the thickest part of the Air is still thinner than the thinnest part of the TZ series), full size backlit keyboard, Magnetic latch, 13.3-inch widescreen display, LED-backlit display, iSight for videoconferencing, generous trackpad, built in multi-touch gesture support, 80GB 1.8-inch hard drive and option of 64GB SSD, uses a 1.6GHz Intel Core 2 Duo but it’s custom made with a 60% smaller chip, MagSafe smaller 45w power adapter, door opens to show a USB 2.0 port, Micro-DVI, and a headphone jack.

Other features include 802.11n wireless and Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, 2GB RAM standard, no optical drive (although you can buy this USB powered compact accessory for $99, instead video playback will be done wirelessly by renting movies and make backups with Time Machine and Time Capsule to wirelessly back up laptops.
Also a nice 5 hours battery life in that TINY little notebook thanks to not having a DVD drive. The price is going to be $1799.
