Xbox 360 RROD in a Best Buy Store

Xbox 360 RROD
When products are on sale in stores you expect them to be at their best, one gamer took a quick video on his mobile phone of an Xbox 360 with the RROD at a Best Buy Store.

You can see the 8 second video below; I would have to agree that I cannot see air flow in the display cabinet…I also wonder why an Xbox 360 branded display would not have ventilation.

The Xbox 360 instruction manual says “should be placed in a well ventilated area”, so if the game console gets the red ring of death in their own display cabinets, why do we not see the Sony PS3 or Nintendo Wii’s doing the same thing.

    @ SF11

    Are you seriously trying to make out the PS3 is as unreliable as the 360?

    YOU IDIOT!

    Google “PS3 repair” and you get 6,440 hits. Do the same with “360 repair” and you get 99,500. Google “broken PlayStation 3″ and “broken ps3″ and you get a total of 10,800 hits while just “broken xbox 360″ on its own gets you 95,400.

    The PSX3’s official failure rate is 0.02%. Microsoft wont even release the 360’s failure rate because its so bad but its at least 10% which makes the 360 over 500 times more unreliable no matter how much you ignore it or try and shift attention.

    Grow up you fool.

    This is not proof this is a Microsoft error. Anyone who has a 360 knows that if you don’t plug in the a/v adapter well it will also give you this 3 red rings. Nice try though pswii fanboys.

  8. Sony on January 13th, 2008 7:26 pm

    Daniel, why don’t you take a long walk off of a short pier. Even you, as a “former” 360 owner knows that 3 rings comes from lack of connection to a display. You truly are pathetic. If a product is truly inferior, then there is no need to misinform (LIE) to your unknowing readers. When I’m giving it to your console, the BS3, I speak truthfully, no special effects…just facts! I know you wish your console played like the prerendered aka fake footage it advertises. Man, misery truly loves company. Keep the lies alive. BOOM!!! HAHA!

    @wqwqwq

    No, you’re obviously the IDIOT, i was showing how easy it is to troll, show a video of a broken console and try and make some kind of point out of it.

    You’re quite happy when this site does it because it is not your beloved console but when i do it just to point out how dumb it is you go on a rant, calling me names you wouldn’t dare to my face is no hard and it’s not clever.

  10. Ivan_PSP on January 13th, 2008 8:01 pm

    PLAYSTATION 3 is the most reliable console on earth i can let it on for a week. If you leave your Xb0x 360 for a couple hours it will blow up like a bomb. Xbox 360 has a massive failure rate. Xbox 360 can’t never match the PS3 perfection… Sony.”like.no.other”

    I just purchased my second 360 the first I sold.
    I picked up a new elite and have to say that thing never feels hot, not like the last one it would cook eggs.
    Don’t know what’s different but I am glad hope to stay away from RROD!

  12. Alan on January 13th, 2008 10:39 pm

    I worked at a virgin megastore in the uk and our display 360 had the RROD all the time Those display cabinets have about a inch of space on either side and get stupid hot, we just turned ours off for a few minutes and on again and it worked fine.

    Bearing in mind that nearly all 360 display pods have been in place since release day and turned on everyday since for hours your bound to get a fault espically as we all know the problems with the first generation 360’s.

    Also as another note our PS3’s were on all day and all night because we don’t turn them off and again guess what they have faults too.

    @luke,

    Do your homework! if you dont plug it in right it will flash all red- 4 rings not 3!!

    owning a ps3 but not a 360 i know i am setting myself up to be labeled a ps3 fanboy but… i have seen this often. twice at target and once at an eb games. however i am one of the unlucky .02% that had to send their ps3 in for service (system completely bricked while playing COD4). happily though the process only took about 10 days and i set here now typing this on my ps3.

    There is two walmarts by my home that have the issue since launch. I still do not care because they have an excellent warranty.

    I took a photo on my phone of an Xbox 360 in a HMV store in Cardiff, Wales which had died whilst on display :-)

    “I took a photo on my phone of an Xbox 360 in a HMV store in Cardiff, Wales which had died whilst on display :-)”

    And that makes you clever how?

  19. Tim K on January 15th, 2008 8:24 pm

    If you don’t see that a product failing on display for a far too common fault as funny then you fail at life frankly.
