OLPC America: low-cost XO laptops to US students
By: Daniel Chubb | January 13, 2008
Nick Negroponte is launching OLPC America so that US students can get their hands on low-cost XO laptops.
OLPC America will be a division of the organization that also has its own chairman and director, an IDG interview with Negroponte said “to have the United States be the only country that’s not in the OLPC agenda would be kind of ridiculous”.
The One Laptop Per Child project is for the whole world after all and aims to make sure all children are able to have a laptop.
Until the official launch later in 2008, OLPC America specific plans will stay under wraps but we can report that the American division will work with individual state governments over disbursement.
