By: Peter Chubb | January 13, 2008
Last year General Motors walked away with so many awards last year, however according to MLive it is a different story this year. This year the Chevrolet Malibu was given the title of 2008 North American Car of the year, but Mazda decided to join in on the party and spoil it a little for GM by having the Mazda CX-9 crossover being named as North American Truck of the Year.

The awards were given to both vehicles while at the start of the 2008 Detroit Auto Show, the awards were judged by 45 independent automotive journalists. The Chevrolet Malibu received 190 votes and beat the Cadillac CTS and the Accord in the process. The Mazda CX-9 received 201 votes and beat both the Chevrolet Tahoe Two-Mode Hybrid and also the Buick Enclave to the top stop.
