Is there a song you hear on the radio you really like but don’t know who sings it or what the song is called? Well now you can find out with CLIQ.
Cliq is a new service which enables you to download that song you’ve been desperate to get. Finally you can interact with your radios! Because the service is at it’s first stage, there are only 21 radio stations which are signed up to the service but with something that will be so popular, you can be sure it won’t be long until more follow.
So, how does Cliq work? Well, say you hear a song on the radio you love. Simply use the application to look up the station and see the name of the track. You can also see the previous four tracks which were played too. If you want to buy the track, all you need to do is click and it becomes available to buy through the Cliq website.
The CEO of UBC Media, who will be running the Cliq service has told Sky News Online,
“It is fundamentally designed to be an interactive service to allow radio to turn listeners into customers. Its main use will be on digital radios which will begin to appear this summer. The first will be made by Pure and they will have Cliq embedded in them.
“The difference between these new radios and others is that they will have wi-fi as well as digital. What this means is that you have a radio that can do what a mobile phone can do, ie receive things and talk back using the wi-fi.
“Cliq will appear as a button on the screen and you will be able to press it to buy the track. We want people to begin getting used to interacting with their radio station.”
The future of Cliq looks good. While they’ll only be offering music for now, in the future radio stations may be able to offer all sorts to customers.
