For a while now, Scarlett Johansson has been signed up to the film Mary, Queen of Scots, but had no director. Well, today it seems she’s finally found what she was looking for. Director Phillip Noyce has been bought onboard to helm the drama from a script written by Jimmy McGovern.
The film will follow the story of the Roman Catholic who reigned as Scotland’s Queen for just nine months back in 1587 before she was imprisoned on charges of plotting to murder Elizabeth I.
It seems Johansson is following a trend with her latest film roles. She’s starred in period movies The Pledge and The Other Boleyn Girl so I think it’s safe to say that Johansson would be the perfect choice for the film.
The film will begin shooting in London and Scotland this year.
