Kate Winslet Replaces Nicole Kidman On ‘The Reader’

Kate Winslet is to replace Nicole Kidman in new film “The Reader” after Kidman walked away from the project giving her pregnancy as the reason. The film is to be directed by Stephen Daldry and follows the story of a teen who falls for mysterious older woman in postwar Germany.

Winslet is no stranger to the script. She was first choice for the role but due to scheduling conflicts with ‘Revolutionary Road’ the role was given to Nicole Kidman. Now Revolutionary Road has finished filming, Winslet has the perfect gap in her diary.

The film started principal photography late last year in Berlin but Kidman had yet to start filming any scenes. This means Kate Winslet can jump on board with the project remaining on schedule.
