I owned a Gamecube for years.

I was anticipating to get an Xbox 360 at launch, but it was so hard to get and there were so many hardware problems and malfunctions (there still are), that I was turned off. I’m really glad I didn’t buy an Xbox 360, and waiting paid off. I saw everything the PS3 had to offer, and I waited another year to get an amazing console.

Nelson, see the light and enjoy gaming for what it is, not who pays to make things exclusive. 360 fanboys are really, really ignorant… I wouldn’t be saying that if I had bought a 360 (luckily I didn’t), but I’d probably fall into the massive pit of fanboys flagrantly getting into pissing matches with “Halo 3 is teh rox!” -.-

Nelson you are an elephant man retard. MGS4 is a PS3 exclusive, Unreal tournament is a timed exclusive that xbox 360 won’t get till later on in the year and uncharted is a PS3 exclusive. Did’nt MS say they did’nt need HDMI for hd gaming and what happend? They put it into the elite. Did’nt MS claim that their console is superior to PS3? Yet, look who’s adding motion control into their controllers… If the xbox 360 is so great like you say it is why does it still have the RROD even after being on the market for 2 years? Oh and the XBL online service has been very shotty for a while now… and it must piss you guys off because you pay to play online.

I have alot of friends with xbox 360′s who are on their 4th consoles.. and some of them are getting sick and tired of MS’s bullshit. Xbox 360 has mostly FPS games and that’s it.. If I wanted to play FPS games I would use my PC. The PS3 is getting great games this year and it’s just the better console with more to offer.

And it’s reliable.

I am in the same boat. I picked up a 360 on November 22, 2005 and knew it was the machine for me. I stayed pretty faithfull to it until 2007 hit and I noticed a huge lack of any exclusive games (See I also game on PC). So as 2007 rolled on and I saw Blu-ray outsell HD-DVD every month of the year I said. “What the heck” and picked up the 40GB PS3.
I can honestly say I am liking it a lot more than the 360. Including online. See I’m not a very social person so the 100% integrated voice chat doesnt really appeal to me especially considering the abundance of screaming Halo-kids running around Live. And having to pay for Peer 2 Peer gaming is a let down as well. I like being able to select from a list of exclusive servers with decent ping and then add them to my favorites list instead of joining Joe Smiths game, having him get frustrated then leave forcing me back to the lobby to search for another P2P game.
Both services are decent depending on what you’re looking for I just find the PS3′s more elegant and utilitarian and thats what I like.

If Microsoft doesn’t release a blu-ray add-on soon I am going to be buying a ps3. I’ve given them a year to get it sorted out. Digital downloads are not going to replace the hard media for me! I want my disk format!

Ps3 fanboy opinions are just as bad as xbox’s, but the truth is they are just in total denial because they were over charged. I own both and any of you that do too, know the truth that the cross platform games look and play better on the xbox. Their online is weak and is no comparison to the features and ease of use of Live. To say that Sony’s Home is going to make it better? Please, it’s only going to be a bloated advertised filled attempt to make up for there lacking foresight into consumer wants and design. Truthfully, the only use I have for my PS3 is to play bluray movies and the few exclusives; which there are not very many them. Definitely not worth the price for just a gaming system. I’m glad that I decided to buy my PS3 used on ebay for a discounted price so that Sony, with all their arrogance, would not profit from my purchase.

That it does HD, that it plays online and that it has most of the best games out there. Now lets analize. Does the 360 do HD? Not really. The fact of the matter is that Real HD is 1080i and that my friends is only found on Blue-Ray and the PS3, not even HD-DVD as of today. That you could play online? Yes, sure. I mean seriously the ps3 had WI-FI built in with a replaceable hard drive compatible with any other Labtop hardrive. This gives you the opportunity to upgrade to sizes as big as 500gb and you all know guys the bigger, the better; now try that on the 360. Free online gaming and browsing. I bet you that 90% of 360 owners dont know that the ps3 has a full featured internet browser. I bet you that they do not know that they pay and we get it for free. Perhaps you know since they pay they get a better service with Xbox live, but we’ll see about that. Lets see how Home comes about to crush the bones in every 360 owner. It is obvious that the ps3 is better just look at the trend. the 360 keeps adding hardware with every inclusion of a new model. why would they do that if they are better or equal in terms of Horse power? It is so foolish to believe they are equal. Watch when they start using the blue-ray more efficiently. When they start using above 50gbs to make worlds so huge is even hard to imagine. Ah did you know that 360 supports only DVD’s to play which means that they only can afford

The PS3 is nice and I realized that it would not be really until its 2nd year that more interesting games would be out. However, luckily I was blessed with the likes of Uncharted, Ratchet and others earlier than expected. I rather be patient and give it a little time to play great games on a great console than be impatient and play great games on a console that break on me on any moment for no apparent reason. But thats just me.

360 doesnt have any good game.all the game are hyped and sucks.ps3 has the most fun different platform game.so if u want more exclusive and like to play different styles of game,buy ps3 save money for chager,wifi,high defination…if u buy 360 u will end up playing only first person shooter and paying much more cash for hd dvd add on,charger,extra hard drive.so i love my ps3 which doesnt break up like 360 with red ring of death.

well i love the 360 a lott. i played it and its really cul. its easy to use and everything. well at the end of the day i play my ps3 and it comes out on top. it is amazing. i mean no charge on anything, playstation home, THE EXCLUSIVE GAMES, and Xmediabar. Especially the Xmediabar. the 360 has a year jump on the ps3. so in conclusion give the ps3 a maximum of 6 months and watch the amazing back-back-back games released. remember like they said time is money and the 360 had A LOT OF TIME. A years jump.

I was the same way when I first got my PS3 after being an XBOX 360 owner. I even double dipped and bought Oblivion GOTY edition for it even though I already owned it on the 360. Then the newness factor wore off and I ended up primarily back on the 360.

The PS3 is nice, but it’s a really lonely experience right now.

The PS3 is like being by yourself on a slick huge starship that can do all sorts of nifty thing while the 360 is like being with your friends on a party boat out on the Caribbean. I just hope once Home comes out that people actually use it or it’s just going to make it feel even lonelier…wandering around a big environment without people in it.

I do use the PS3 for exclusives though…and for watching BD’s and stuff on my media server. I agree, it’s a cool machine, but I just hope the party arrives soon.

this is not about whether you are a fan boy or not, this is about spilling out the truth. You said it yourself maximus the ps3 has better hardware and the 360 as of now has a better software library. But then think about it. Like I said Sony is only responsible of the Hardware part of the equation as so is microsoft. Developers have backed up the 360 more because they have had more time to get to know that hardware to then make the software for it. What you gotta know is that is not going to be like that for the rest of the life spam of this generation, in fact that finishes this year. Why do you think Microsoft released the 360 by itself one year before the competition? When the prices of the Ps3 reach a more global friendly price and more and more ps3 get on board; the flee begins. Its a matter of marketing more than anything else, possibilities. The 360 currently has more systems sold compared to the ps3 and thats the main and only reason why the studios (asside from bongie) back microsoft and not sony. Let me add to that the fact that microsoft also pays them to stay like hustlers whores that they are. And to the guy that misspelled dumb and wrote damien. Why should they care if the ps2 outdoes the ps3? where is the money going? to the same pockets. If you had any education in bussines or let me make it clear common sence, you should see why is outselling the ps3. And, as a matter of fact, people I don’t even know are coming up to me and telling me they’re trading in their old crapbox 360. PS3 came out late december 2006 and xbox came out late october 2005. all the exclusive i know that came to xbox in 2006 where Ridge race 5, perfect zero, forza 2 and PGR3. That all that i can think of, if there more please say it. Most of the good that where on xbox 360 also where on PS2 and xbox 1. Need for speed most wanted, call of duty 2,3 fifa 06, fifa world cup 2006, nba 2k6, nfl 2k6 and much more. that means xbox pretty much had no games and you could even had chilled with your PS2 or xbox 1 for a good year and if you own PS2 your good untill 2009. PS3 first year was much better and im only saying the good exclusive games that where on PS3. Resistence, motorstorm, uncharted, ratchet tools of destruction, heavenly sword,MLB 07,time crisis,unreal turnament 3(also on PC and is a timed exclusive), warhawk, Eye Of Judgment and amny more. Thats only 2007 and in 08 is soppost to be a strog year for sony just like how xbox strong year was 2007. 2007 had, halo 3, mass effect, bioskack, gears of war and many other but PS3 second year is simply going to kill xbox 360 exclusive of 2006/2007/2008 combiened. PS3 is the better console and if u change the setting for limite to full, u get the best picture for games.PS3 is also better for muitiplatform games because developers are using the PS3 as the lead platform. i.m also sure everyone owns a PC and can play bioshock, gears of war, halo3 and other xbox games on my PC. even if u install lenux or windows on your PS3, u can play halo 3 on the PS3 but it does take long to load windows on PS3 and is hard but it work or play it on PC so i enjoy the games, save my money on my PS3 exclusive because PS3 exclusive are real exclusive u wont find anywhere else, even the PC.

I know over 15 people who are tired of the disc scratching and RRoDs. People who have had enough with the Xbox 360 problems that went out and bought the PS3 because they can still play their favorite games on it; Oblivion, Guitar Hero, & CoD4.

Though, no one has been able to answer this question for me; when your 360 has to be sent into MS for repairs, do you get a refund for the downtime on Xbox Live?

I have both the 360 and the PS3, and the winner hands down is the PS3. I’ll give it to the 360 with EA games it currently looks better 60 fps compared to 30 fps on the PS3, but EA has just reached 60 fps on the PS3 (NBA 08)and will continue to unlock the power of the PS3 SPE’s. Not to mention that the hardware is a steal at the current price considering all the technology that is packed in.

Those of you who think the PS3 is going to some how magically make the XBOX consoles disappear or vice versa really don’t know the industry very well…if youve done your reading, you’d realize Microsoft is currently specing out their next console…so I’d hardly say that they are behind PS3.

The fact is, it all comes down to the games. Right now the 360 has the edge because its been out longer. So those of you saying the PS3 better…well, stop your fricken self delusion because when it comes to GAMES…it’s not currently the winner.

I own both, I like both…but right now my 360 gets more play simply because there are more games. Not to mention the XBOX Live Arcade which also surpasses the downloadable stuff on PSN.

Im sure the PS3 will be successful in time, but you know, I want both to be successful because ITS ABOUT THE FRIGGEN GAMES.

I own all three: Xbox 360 Elite, Playstation 3 80gig and the Wii.

When I walk into the game store I usually buy a 360 game. Out of the 50 games I have they are almost totally 360.

Why? lets be honest the best games are on the 360. You can cry all you want but you know its true.

Some of you really need to do your homework. HD is classified as 720p 1080i and 1080P. The Xbox can run all three….My Sony playstation 3 can’t. Its 1080P or down converts to 480.

Maybe I’ll get the Sony on line system once they get one really worth dealing with but when I check last (a few months ago) it was still crap.

You guys talk about the future…..I want to play now! I have that with the 360.

oh and the Wii…even my kids don’t want to play with it anymore.

Oh yea and for those that really don’t know it yet…The new gaming machines are already in the works…so in five years you will be seeing a whole different type of game play to match the true 3D televisions that are being show at CES in Vegas this last week. In other words don’t believe the hype the current machines will be around in 10 years.

I think all the comments are much funnier than the article. Although I do agree with the writer, that it’s worth the wait for the PS3. I was amazed at how may people don’t even realize that the PS3 has 8 processors inside of it versus 360′s 2. I was at Best Buy and I had to explain to the rep. what was in the PS3, by the time I was done, he wanted to know how he could sell his 360 and get a PS3. I think what I have seen over the past year is a bunch of uneducated techno wanna be’s not understanding what they are actually purchasing. The 360 is going to fail, it just does not have the tech specs to match up to the ps3′s scalability and the Wii is a piece of sh^t and we all know that. What a gimmick that is. It has no future and is geared to dupe all non-techies out there. It will fail by next year and PS3 will rule just as it’s little brother PS2 did.

Bottom line here is Sony is a bit snobby about their products and that’s what most people hate about them. But let’ all face it, they make good sh^t and have every right to express that. I root for Sony because I wish these American companies would get off their lazy fat @sses and start to put some pride into their work. Microsoft needs to take some lessons from Sony in the Hardware department. I can say that I am really proud of Apple because they are one of the few American companies that get’s the whole quality factor.

In short, Sony was smart, they have better specs all around and there is no denying or arguing that. The games are on their way. We are already starting to see a few Uncharted, Warhawk and if your like me KILLZONE baby!!!

More expensive? The 40 gig XBOX 360 is $50 CHEAPER than the XBOX 360 Elite, and the 80 gig version with Motorstorm is only $50 more expensive than the elite. Plus, the wireless adapter is an additional $100 dollars. That more than makes up for any price difference. In addition if you decide to get the cheaper XBOX 360 model, you have to pay more money to get HDMI support. If you want to have a High definition media support… $180 for a add-on HD-DVD player. Sorry, the price argument is garbage.

As for why you need a Blu-RAY player, the PS3 GAMES are placed on a BLU-RAY disc. Sony is taking advantage of the capacity of the Blu-ray discs.

My OPINION: Microsoft WILL regret 3 major things that will bite them later!
#1: lack of hardrive, xbox can NEVER make a game that depends on a hardrive (like uncharted) and that will result in slower loading times and worse graphics(in the for-seen future) The original xbox had a STANDARD hardrive, and it worked well!! much faster load time than the ps2 by far!!
2#Using a last generation DVD for the standard dsic. It will bight them sooner or later. eventually you will need more space than a dvd can handle.
#3 Charging money for xbox live. PSN is free, and yes its less devoloped than xbox live, but if you just want to play games online, and occasionally dowload a demo or trailer (like me) then its perfect and i cant think of anything to add.

I don’t know why people are choosing sides in the console. Both consoles have their own great games and something unique to offer. A true gamer/multimedia connoisseur will buy both consoles. Cheap bastards will pick sides.

That being said, I enjoy my PS3 much more. I can throw all my MP3s, videos and pictures on it, surf the Internet, watch Blu-Ray discs, rip CDs with the touch of a button, plug in USB devices and memory cards, access my PS3 hardrive via my PSP, easily move multimedia content from my PC to my PS3 via its browser (by setting my PC up as a server). The XBOX has awesome games, many not available on the PS3 (Bioshock, etc.), and therefore is a must-have. But the PS3 is a much more well-rounded and refined console, and will always be my primary all-purpose home entertainment system. On top of all that, PS3 is going to be getting some amazing games, as well as the revolutionary 3D HOME community.

Played some top class games – on-line, off line and co-op mode.
Surfed the web,
viewed my photo library,
added three music albums to the two hundred I already have converted to MP3 format on my 250GB hard drive.
Created a party playlist made up of the hottest tracks.
Watched a couple of Blu-Ray HD movies. as well as a standard DVD.
downloaded podcasts to listen to later.
All this with once machine and no add-ons (apart from the standard cheapo 250gb laptop size drive I popped in which only took 15 minutes.
To do the same with the Xbox would cost you.. well you’d be a fool to even go there.

The XBOX Live Arcade has tons of great games like Puzzle Quest, Lumines, E4, Exit, Small Arms, and Ultimate MK. We are getting Rez HD at the end of the month.

Xbox 360′s Dashboard is way better and more attractive then PS3′s User Interface.

Xbox 360 for me gets all game buys where as PS3 I only buy exclusives.

I have both machines and find the fun factor is more abundant with Sony PS3 exclusives and Sony games in general. The 360 Online is appealing less and less to me. I was number one in the world on a track on Project Gotham 3. Man I wasted hours of my life to do that and I don’t even think I enjoyed it – just addicted. Online play with some people gets tiresome also – same old trash talk which I have heard a thousqand times…can’t get into the lobby…when you do the host wants to talk about tosh! Gimme Silent Hill 1 or FFVII any day…

Who gives a $hit about multi-format releases made for the specs of the lowest common denomanator – the Xbox360. I personally did’nt buy a PS3 for multi-format games, I bought it for the exclusives whereby the graphics and submersive gameplay have been far better so far than any exclusive on the 360 (Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank, Warhawk…). And if you have a good HD TV at 32″ or over you can certainly tell the difference with Blu Ray.

MDK, you are incredibly right. Out of all the PS3 games I have, Assassin’s Creed and COD4 are the only multi-console titles. The Playstation 3 has, and is going to have even more amazing exclusives. Resistance, Motorstorm, Warhawk, Uncharted, Ratchet, Heavenly Sword, and then Haze, Metal Gear Solid 4, God of War III, Killzone 2, and LittleBigPlanet. That’s one of the greatest lineups of games anyone has ever seen, how could you miss out?

The 360 has some decent exclusives, but the only games I would ever play on the 360 would MAYBE be Halo 3, but mostly Left 4 Dead, which is also on the PC and may not even show up on the 360.

This is a sample of one person actually taking a cue from a history lesson. Every single MGS game ended up going to another system after some time, what makes anyone think that now is different? The Playstation brand is at the weakest point it has been since its lauch, what benefits come from kicking a model that has worked for them before?

Actually, it didn’t really work. They should simply release them on both at the same time. They won’t, but it seems like the only reason that is, is that Sony is throwing them the “exclusivity-hat-of-money.” But that hat has not and will never buy permanent exclusivity. It is just a matter of time before the 360 gets MGS4.

Not to say that 360-only people won’t be jealous that PS3 gamers get to play it so early. It is the biggest game coming on the near future, except for maybe GTA4, but even that I doubt.

Oh yes, it could always go to another console… so, if you exclude the 360, and the PS3, which is already getting it, that leaves the Wii. Oh yes, we all know that the Wii could easily handle the 1080p graphics and immense detail of MGS4. Konami could always tone down the graphics to, I don’t know, maybe about 8 pixels per character to get MGS4 to run smoothly on the Wii

…and about the 360 games going to the PC (Bioshock, Halo, Gears, etc.) StreamMyGames allows the PS3 to play PC games… so much for exclusives, I’m going to go play Bioshock on my PS3

MGS4 will NOT be released on the 360. I don’t know why the 360 boys are so desperate for this to be true (well, actually I do, but that’s not the point). There’s something called contract law? (Konami are in a fixed contract with sony to keep it as a PS3 exclusive, just as bungie are with microsoft) there’s also the fact that you couldn’t port MGS4 to the 360, it’s to big. Hideo Kojima stated himself that they where using the entire Blu Ray disc’s capacity for the game, and considering the 360 still uses DVD’s, I somehow think not.

Let us deal with the disc storage issue first. The idea that MGS4 couldn’t fit onto one or two DVDs is wrong. The reason the game takes up a whole Blu-ray is because there is no compression. If they compressed the gamers resources there is no reason it shouldn’t fit onto DVD.

Second, Sean, you are being just as persumtious to assume that the contract dictates that the MGS4 game is exclusive forever. It is also stupid to think that some sort of “Substance” version of MGS4 would be covered by the same contract. All they would have to do is to change a few things, add some VR missions and boom, it is no longer “MGS4.”

Look, I don’t think it is an absolute cosmic certainity that MGS4 will end up on 360 in some form, I just think it is the outcome that makes the most sense. The game had to have cost millions to produce, why deny an install base that is much larger than PS3′s at this time? I don’t think they would. At least not forever.

Sean is right, a dual-layer Blu Ray disc can hold up to 50GB of information, whereas a standard DVD can only hold 9GB at the most. If Metal Gear Solid 4 were to magically come to the 360, which it won’t, it would have to be a set of at least 3 or 4 discs. On the other hand, you could play it on the PS3 without switching discs.

Yeah. This guy that brought up the idea of compression must be an idiot. By compressing the game it would lose its quality which is what really matters in any other console other than the wii. Second, the frame will have to be droped to something like 30flops which isn’t very next gen like. Look just admit it. The 360 is not so prepare to be consider a next gen at the level of a ps3. If you had enough money, you know you would have bough a ps3 instead of that 2 year old console. Check this out. Get a decent job and 1: move out your mother house; you are almost 30. Thnk about getting a family or at least a girl. 2: give your family and yourself the best. You want the best movies, internet acces, dvd room, Blue-Ray room, wireless, gaming, photo viewing, video, a replaceable hard drive that doesn’t need a genius from Microsoft to get it done and plus, streams media from your pc and is able tu install Linux in it. You could buy a pc, a Blue-Ray player, a wireless box, and a 360 or you could be smart and get them a single present, a ps3.

I won’t deny that I will gladly buy a PS3 when the software warrants it (probably sometime this summer), but all of your other ad homminem attacks were way off base. I don’t think that you have to make up a bunch of insults simply because I have an opinion that differs from yours.

Compression is in almost every game that has been released in the last couple of years. The game doesn’t have to lose its quality (at least not a noticeable amount) it’ll just have longer loading times.

As for your argument that if they change a few levels and add VR missions that “you” would still be right, “MGS4 won’t go to the RRoD-box.” Well, cheers to you man. If you consider that a win, I’m happy for you, it is good that you have your sights set so low in life.

…the same reason why people have DVDs and VHS cassetes. They’d like to have a tangible product and not rely completely on their computer to hold hundreds of dollars of movies. A Blu Ray disc is a tangible object, a download is not.

Agreed. I want a disk when I buy a film. I want a collection in the corner of my room which I can marvel at. If you’re HDD breaks (the life span of these things has become less in the last 8 yrs as I understand it) you will lose them all (unless you back them up I guess).
