Paramount To Withdraw Their Support For HD DVD In Favour Of Blu-Ray

It’s really not looking good for HD DVD. The Financial Times has reported that Paramount is looking to withdraw their support for HD DVD in favour of Blu-Ray. If the report is true, then it leaves HD DVD with just Universal backing it exclusively and means it’s been well and truly defeated by Blu-Ray.

It was first thought that Paramount had a contract keeping them with HD DVD until the end of this year but reports have claimed that there is a clause in the contract which claims that Paramount can change sides if Warner Bros. switch to Blu-Ray.

Ok, so you won’t be very happy if you’re an owner of a HD DVD player but once the format war has been won it’ll be safer to invest in hi-definition players.
