Warner Bros. Snaps Up Rights To I Am Legend Sequel

I Am Legend was one of the best things I saw last year. The Scene where Will Smith is doing pull ups in the doorway is one which will live on in my mind for ever (Keep reading for the pictures!). Other than the half naked Will, I thought the film was great and I’m not the only one. The film has pulled in around $335 million since it opened. Pretty respectable for a Vampire movie!

So, with the film being so successful, it’s no surprise that sequel rumours are floating around already. There have been no announcements yet, but Warner Bros. have already snapped up the rights.

The thing is we can expect a new cast as we’re left lacking quite a few characters, not to mention the star of the film, at the end of all the action. It’s certain that if the sequel were to be made, we can expect a total change of direction which will bring the story back closer to the book.

Will Smith Pull Ups

The thing is, what would you call a sequel to I Am Legend?

  2. Grover says:

whats old is new again.. very av hollywood flick. The Omega Strain imho is a far better effort of the same story..

  3. Ernie says:

Grover, I think you mean, the Omega Man (starring Charlton Heston, 1971), vs the Omega Strain which is part of the PS2 games series, Syphon Filter.

There was also a version with Vincent Price (The last man on earth….but I haven’t seen that one, so not sure how it stacks up).

as far as being an adaptation of the novel, this one failed…and as far as there being a sequel, what a joke. Too bad they didn’t get it right and do a faithful adaptation of one of the finest vampire novels ever written
