Should Assassin’s Creed be my first Sony PS3 game?

I have to own up, I do not own a games console but after many months of playing my brother’s and Cousin’s Sony PS3, I find myself now wanting one. The problem I now have is what my first game should be on this great games console. My first thought is Should Assassin’s Creed, but is this the right choice.

Assassins Creed

The other night I decided to visit my cousin with my brother where he showed us that he managed to get hold of a copy at his local HMV, these type of games have never done anything for me but he said I should give it a got which I did.

I must have been playing Assassin’s Creed for about half an hour and it got me hooked, many of you out there would have played this game for a lot longer than I did so I would like to know if this would be the perfect first game for when I purchase my Sony Playstation 3?

I have not played it myself and I would not buy it either, not at full price anyway.

Stick to the exclusives, Resistance, Motorstorm, Ratchet, Uncharted and GT pro. Even COD4 which is multi-platform but Infinity Ward hit the nail on the head and proved all the doubters wrong that the PS3 is not hard to develop for, for multi platform gaming.

Considering you liked it then buy it but not at full price unless you just have money to throw around.

No. Dont get Assassins Creed as a first titles when there are so many better ones available. AC suffers _extremely_ badly from “repeat and do again” syndrome. The first few missions are great, the gfs are stunning the story is intriguing.. but by the 5th or 6th dude you kill, you start to wonder if the next guys are going to be any different/harder to kill – bad news, theyre not. Its the same all over again fr each one. After finishing the game I felt quite disappointed with the experience. It has soooo much potential (esp the cities) but things like ‘collect the flags’ as side missions dont cut it.

One of the saddest things about AC is that there is nothing other ‘to do’ in the cities. There are no real benefits to pick pocketing (unless u need throw daggers – I never even used them the whol game!!), and thats basically it. If they had made the cities a little more involving this would be a very top game.. but skip it, there are far more better games around.

Heres what I personally found brilliant:
Warhawk – oldie but an amazing goodie. Just comple online gaming
UnCharted – like AC massive story, world, beautiful controls, fantastic to play. Glorious gfx too and audio.
COD4 – Nuts. This game is one of te best around. It is GUARANTEED not to disappoint. I am positive you will have a grin on your face when you complete “Death From Above” mission.. and just want more..
Conan – This game is a complete sleeper. Its amazing fun, and just all out classic 80′s Conan (might need to be a fan of the old Conan blood and gore to truly enjoy :) ).
And finally if you even vaguely like Dynasty Warriors get BladeStorm. This is the most hours you will get out of a game on PS3 next to Oblivion. it is HUGE. I have given it a solid thrashing.. and 30 odd hours later.. still no end in sight :) Thast a good thing tho.. more battles to be had!! :) Has RPG, Strategy, Story, Open Gameplay, Unit control and all sorts all in one game.

    Hope this helps.

    COD4, Uncharted or Ratchet.

    Three words: Unchartered Drakes Fortune.

My personal game of the year, never have I played a game with such a cinematic and well realised story and a near perfect balance of jumping/puzzling and intense over the shoulder gunplay.

It took me about 9 hours on Normal, but I still have plenty of treasures and medals to find when I replay on Hard. Also the “mirror” feature that flips the entire world left to right does wonders for the replay value, in parts it feels like a different level!

Assassin’s Creed is ok (I have that too), and when I started it before Unchartered I was blown away with the graphics and freedom of movement, but because of the repetitive missions (every level is essentially the same) I decided to leave it for Unchartered and come back to it later.

Needless to say having played Unchartered suddenly AC didn’t seem quite as good as I first thought (in a way that CG on older movies doesn’t look quite as believable after watching CG in a newer movie). I suppose it’s unfair to compare the colourful tropical world in Unchartered with the grey and bleak medieval world of Assassin’s, but you just can’t help it! Also I find the camera panning overly juttery on AC too.

AC is still a good game, but it is no where near the polished next gen experience Unchartered is. If you want a true PS3 next gen experience as your first game you will only get that from a first party/exclusive title like Unchartered.

In terms of multiplatform games, I would also rate Call of Duty 4 above AC, but it depends if you like FPS games I guess…

Finally, I recommend your first purchase on the PSN be the fabulous Warhawk, a game that you can just keep going back to between the big releases and always delivering a fun online experience. (It certainly saw me through the dark days of the PS3 game drought, though hopefully those days are over!)

Assasins Creed is a great game..But buy it second…The game you NEED to have first is Call of Duty 4. COD4 is incredible, and once you’ve beaten the game, the fun doesn’t stop. You get online multiplayer and it is SICK! Assasins creed is alot of fun, but gets repetitive after 6 hours…Dont get me wrong, its a must buy to along with Uncharted..But do yourself a favor and Get COD4 first…you wont regret it.

BTW Assasins Creed is 37.99 @ best buy…Dont pay full price if you dont have to.

AC is garbage, biggest disappointment of 2007.

Uncharted, R&C, COD4, UTIII, and Rock Band are the must haves.

I got Assassi’s Creed a best Buy for 38. I guess its allright for that price. The Game is not anything special. Its okayt at best and fun for the first 2 days.

If you like online- get unreal, warhawk( i have it, its great) or Call of Duty 4

If u want one player/adventure- Uncharted and Ratchet are really good and maybe also Heavenly sword, though it it is quite short and depends on your taste, otherwise you can get some other game like warhawk and wait for God of War 3 to come out.

if you get warhawk bundle for 60 you also get a head set and game. its worth it.

    CALL OF DUTY 4, PERIOD

  • http://ubisoft.com AC

    Hey,

AC is not a bad game at all… and what game is not repetitive, even Monopoly is repetive doesn’t exclude it from being fun.. get AC, if you are into online gaming.. get COD4.. but AC is a lot better than uncharted, uncharted the moment you get into it, it finishes.. game is too damn short.. ohh.. and repetitive..

Assassin’s creed was my first game with the PS3 and it was a great game i was amazed with the graphics and its not limited at all you can go any where on the game.

  • Limanima

I heard it is a bit disappointing. This game is selling simply because of those FMV and trailers that have been all around.
Get Uncharted. That’s a no hyped game, that is winning by is own meris : nice gameplay, good story and fantastic graphics…

If you’re looking for that kind of game, uncharted is definately the way to go. It was developed by Naughty Dog which is indirectly owned by Sony, and the game shows that. It really takes advantage of all aspects of the ps3′s capabilities. For a first game, that’s the way to go. Thats not to say Assasins creed isn’t a ton of fun (i beat it, and enjoyed the hell out of it too) but uncharted is in a league of its own.
