Queen Named The Greatest British Band Of All Time
Queen have beat The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Take That and Oasis in being named the greatest British band of all time in a poll.
It’s said that more then 20,000 BBC Radio 2 listeners voted for then on the strength of their lyrics, originality, song-writing, live performances and showmanship.
Listeners then selected the five finalists and a debate was held on New Year’s Day in a three-hour show by DJ Mark Goodier to decide on the eventual winner.
Queen was announced as the top band live on air, beating The Beatles by just 400 votes.
