If Barack Obama Was Muslim: does it matter?

The American Presidential Election is a very big subject right now and one of the candidates is Barack Obama, there seems to be a huge story going around the internet that Obama is in fact a Muslim. When you take a look at Yahoo Answers it seems that this rumor first started circulating as an E-Mail.
It seems that so many people have their own view on this, but just by reading just a few comment it seems as if many do not believe that Barack Obama is a Muslim, however most of them follow on by saying that it does not matter what his religion is as long he is a good person and will do the right thing for the American People.
What are your views on this very delicate subject, because everyone as a U.S. Citizen must have some sort of view?

I’m amazed by people who can point a spelling mistake on comment in a web log but can’t see our government invaded Iraq for no reason but force an ideology be it the democracy or Christianity on people who don’t want it, and control their natural resources. People like you TD self-centred and blind. I’m not going to analyse the suffering of the Muslim people because of the western aggressins since the fragmentation of Othman empire and colonizing its many states from Spain in Morocco to France on Algeria and Tunisia and Syria and Lebanon to Italy in Libya and Somalia to England in Egypt, Sudan, Arabian peninsula and Iraq ….. till the invasion of Iraq. People like you TD claiming self defence from countries and people who have no control over there daily life because of the continues intrusion of the western powers for the last 100 years. I think whatever they have done is more like a desperate hopeless and stupid self-defence. And if we don’t give the peace to think properly and justice to feel as normal respected human we’ll never find peace for our country or inside ourselves as humans unless we kill them all one by one. Because one day the balance of power may change and then you’ll find yourself cornered.
Obama muslim or not I can see in him more humani personality, read his biography on Wikipedia and you’ll see that he is much better than the idiot G. Bush and his killing lover gang and dishonest H. Clinton.

Islam is a religion, based on the notion of peace, then how is it that so many acts done by its adherents are contrary to peace? The answer is simple. Such actions, if not sanctioned by the religion, have no place with it. They are not Islamic and should not be thought of as Islamic.
The very name Islam comes from the Arabic root word ’salama’ which means peace. Islam is a religion which is based upon achieving peace through the submission to the will of God. Thus, by this very simple linguistic definition, one can ascertain as to what the nature of this religion is.
One of the many short comings which has arisen in the West, is judging Islam by the conduct of a minority of its people.
The only way to examine Islam is to simply examine its belief system. Look at its sources, the Qur’an and Sunna, and see what they have to say. This is the way to find the truth about what Islam says about terror, terrorism and terrorists.One who is sincerely searching for the truth, will do it no other way.

I have many friends that are Muslim/Islamic and they tell me that all people in the world are Muslim/Islamic or they are atheist. I don’t know much about the Muslims, but according to them, if you are born from a Muslim father, you are Muslim, period and if you denounce the Muslims, you will be destroyed. They tell me that they have only one agenda, to destroy all atheist and if you aren’t Muslim, then you are atheist. They tolerate me, but that seems to be all they do. I am not stating this as fact, just what Muslims have told me.
