Well here is the first look at the body armor story; the armed forces have opted to delay the testing of the new body armor designs that can stop powerful armor piercing bullets.

Is this true will it stop armor piercing bullet?

In my opinion I can’t see it, if they had something that could stop an armor piercing bullet it would be heavy and bulky, I really cannot see hoe they can make body armor that thin ad expect it to work.

Here is a bit of a reality check for you. The modern day body armor has 2 Kevlar plates in it, one to the front and one to the back, it is said that these plates will only stop a fragment, so if you get a direct hit you’re pretty much done.

As for the body armor been so tight, this is so when you get hit your insides don’t come out of the entry or exit wounds, so the medics might be able to do something.

  1. Body Armor Guy says:

In the US, NIJ Level IV body armor can stop armor piercing .30-06 rounds. That is more powerful than the 7.62 x 51 mm NATO, 5.56 x 45 mm NATO, and 7.62 x 39 mm (AK-47). They aren’t new.

  2. My comment is simple on February of 2008 I Chris
    T. will display to the world arms and Body Armor industry as well as media attending the SHOT SHOW in Las Vegas as well as to my good freind who does have the best Body Armor Pinnacle that I have produced the new MAPA as I call it the Level IV stand alone Body Armor that will put Cerdyne’s Plates to shame and I di it on a Penny budget…me alone…Chief Engineer art Comabtbodyarmor Company. Tjhe MAPAS stands for Modular Armor Protective Attachment.

  3. Body Armor Guy is right, we have had level IV armor for a long time. I also agree with Chris. Steel plates places in your bulletproof vest will stop about anything besides a 50 cal. They do make them in other materials as well. There is alot of development in the works now to create a thinner material that can withstand rifle rounds.
