Assassins Creed: colors change, textures aren’t Xbox 360 vs Sony PS3

After Game Trailers did a comparison of Assassins Creed on the Xbox 360 and Sony PS3 a lot of gamers moaned about the difference in brightness and some said that GT did the comparison wrong.
Well one gamer is trying to prove that GT did the comparison wrong (although I am not convinced), you can view the new comparison video below that shows RGB Full Range in Display Settings enabled and this is meant to make the PS3 version look the same as the 360’s.
The difference is slight (except brightness), and as one gamer put it “the colors are changing, the textures aren’t”.
Do you think Game Trailers should adjust their PS3 settings or is this one gamers bad opinion?

This is the thing that really pisses me off about Sony. They have all these weird settings that only they know about. Even their cameras are confusing and are always set to the worst settings by default. Why even have that setting at all?
Why is every cross platform so weak on PS3? I paid a lot more than any other console so I expect release first on PS3 not last, I expect more levels and online support not less and significantly better graphics not same or worst… This needs to be fixed pronto.
Having played both versions myself,(I have the PS3 version and my best friend has the 360 version) I can say that there is almost no difference as far as sharpness or textures in either version. Gametrailers just recorded the game on both versions on different TV’s with different picture settings. It’s also interesting when you have other websites saying that it’s the 360 version that’s a little “washed out”. Gamesradar.com(which has a good comparison video) and CVG.com both say that the PS3 version is sharper graphically.
I honestly can’t tell the difference between the two so I don’t really care. I just wish that when someone makes a comparison video that they use the same TV with the same settings.
Okay ,
how about the people whit a component hd connection ,
i see in the option that full rgb en the super wite is only for hdmi connection.
How come ?
Dude do you actually think that were just making crap up? That we have nothing better to do than to feed everyone a bunch of crap? The RGB settings make the game darker when set to Full, it is a FACT. Not made up, not a rumor, but a FACT
Remember shadows can make textures look more defined and if you have the brightness turned up too high you loose the darkness of the shadows.
I’VE BEEN SAYING THIS THE WHOLE TIME
Turn the RGB to Full, unless your playing a dark game. Thats the problem with the 360 though, yes it comes defaulted to already play games darker, but if your playing through a dark area in a game sometimes its too dark to see everything. At least with the PS3 you can change the settings - Full on non dark games, Limited on dark games. Plus it has to do with the lighting in the game and how advanced it is. Check out these pics, notice the very high settings look a little more washed out because it’s trying to make the lighting more natural.
It is pointless to compare games that are made from one developer for both platforms. Any game that is ported from the 360 will be limited because the 360 is limited compared to the PS3. Compare games that are exclusive to each system, which is hard to do, but COD4 was hailed for its graphics as best of the year but Uncharted makes those graphics seem like last generation. Naughty Dog really has made a game that has great replay and unreal graphics and sound.
the bias with this article is so apparent.
1st, why is the question “Do you think Game Trailers should adjust their PS3 settings or is this one gamers bad opinion?”
That’s like asking “if you have to die do you want drowned or burned to death”….
why does his opinion have to be bad? it’s obvious all over the internet that people have been looking at these comparisons saying the ps3 is not setup correctly, which makes the games look washed out. If you want a proper comparison, both systems should be tested via hdmi on the same tv with RBG Full range since the 360 is defaulted that way and the ps3 is not. Just because its not default on the ps3 doesn’t mean anything, it takes 1 second to enable it and makes for a better comparison.
The second point is “color change, textures dont”, implying that the ps3 has inferior textures now that the colors have been adjusted. it amazes me that xbox rtards are always looking for an excuse, even when popular gaming sites have been proven to be using invalid tests.
We didn’t have RGB full and superwhite at the start, they were later add-ons from firmware updates. I had RGB full turned on but I played the GT 5 prologue demo and i couldn’t see the dash board for everything being so dark. Polyphony go on to say that the detail is so great you can see the quality of leather and the stitching. I saw none of this as the black was way too black and the shadows was pitch black. I couldn’t find a solution on my TV settings, all I could do is put the black correcter to its lowest setting and I would see it better but this made the black more grey. I later put the RGB on to limited and this helped to see the dashboard better, still I find the shadows to be to dark. I don’t know if the high contrast ratios on TV’s are a good thing or not?
One slight problem with this NOT ALL HDTV’s support super white or rgb full so its not a solution for everyone.I have had my plasma for a
couple of years I cant use super white just to let
you all know that you may have a similar problem if you have had your HDTV for a while.
Rob.
Clearly it won’t make the textures “better”. The idea behind RGB being set to “full” rather than “limited” is that it displays a wider range of colors. Kind of like setting your games on PC to 32bit rather than 16bit (but obviously with much less drastic a change).
It does however make the game look more vivid and, in some cases, clearer if your HDTV supports the Super White functionality. I agree with one of the posters on here though, seems as though the article is misleading the people to think the Ps3 has inferior textures to the 360 version, which is definitely false. Buddy has the 360 version, and comparing the game side-by-side is almost identical on the same TV.
Soon I’ll make my own video with my HD-Video cam and put up my own comparison video for you guys. And yes, everything will be done on the SAME TV! haha.
