Tina Turner’s Former Husband Ike Turner Has Died

Tina Turner’s former husband Ike Turner died peacefully in his home in San Marcos, California on December 12, 2007. The cause of Ike’s death was not immediately known.

Ike was best known for his duet career with former wife Tina Turner. When they divorced in 1978, Ike kept every asset they had attained except for Tina’s stage name.

Earlier this year Ike won a second Grammy 35 years after his first for Risin’ With The Blues.”

The Recording Academy said that “There is no doubt that Ike Turner was one of rock and roll’s great architects with his genre-defying sound as an instrumentalist and bandleader … As a two-time Grammy Award winner and recipient of The Recording Academy’s 2004 Heroes Award, Ike’s legacy as a groundbreaking pioneer in the music industry will never be forgotten.”
