It has been reported that Fox have pushed James Cameron’s Avatar back from Memorial Day to December 2009 so Cameron has more time to finish the complex post-production on the movie. So, Cameron now has 18 months of post-production, which according to reports he’s going to need!
I’m sure Cameron won’t mind the release date being pushed back, after all it happened with Titanic so Cameron could finish post-production - need I say more?

It seems Fox has a penchant for changing release dates. It is said that Ben Stiller and Shawn Levy’s Night At The Museum 2: Escape From The Smithsonian has now been given the great release date of May 22, 2009.
Casting for the movie is set to be announced next week, but Stiller will definitely be reprising his Security Guard Role. It’s been reported that Reese Witherspoon as been approached to play Amelia Earhart and I’m hoping to God that Steve Coogan and Owen Wilson return as the bickering centurion and cowboy.
One last announcement from Fox: Ice Age 3 will be hitting theatres on July 1st 2009 and is to be shot in digital 3D! All the stars from the first two films, including Ray Romano, Denis Leary and John Leguizamo will lend their voice to the film.
