According to Variety, Alexander producer Thomas Schuehly has got the rights to remake Fritz Lang’s Metropolis. He’ll be teaming up with Mario Kassar on the modern version of the 1927 silent sci-fi classic.
Schuehly and Kassar are currently in negotiations with numerous top directors to helm the film. It is expected the final decision will come within the next few months.

Metropolis, back in 1927, was considered one of the most expensive films. It was set in 2026 in a huge city-state. It followed the story of the class struggle between the society of wealthy planners and thinkers, and the workers who live underground.
