Abortions To Be Made Available At Doctors Surgeries

It has been reported that Abortions are going to be made available at your doctors surgeries from next year its said that this move is to help encourage women to seek abortion earlier.

It’s said that women will be offered medical abortions, which will involve them taking two pills and can only be carried out up to the ninth week of pregnancy.

Anti-abortion critics have said that women will use the procedure as a form of contraception. Doctors who have strong anti-abortion opinions may refuse to allow terminations at their surgeries.

At present it’s said that the abortion pill is used in 30 per cent of UK terminations and is administered in two doses several days apart.

Here how it is done: A woman takes the pill in front of a medic, then returns to take the final dose. After this dose, there is a possibility she can start to miscarry on the spot surly this could cause distress for other patients in the surgeries.

Dr Nigel Dickson who is a Southampton GP has said that some abortion patients can suffer excessive bleeding and will need immediate access to the right medical facilities.

There were 200,000 abortions in Britain last year, with 41,000 given to teenage girls.

The legal limit is 24 weeks, but campaigners want this reduced because medical advances mean some babies born at 24 weeks can now survive.

What do you think about this do you agree or disagree about this?

I think that a lot of the worries with this will be because it will be freely available in doctors surgeries it could increase abortion rates amongst teenagers.

I agree that women should be able to have a termination in the presence of their family doctor, whom they trust. I don’t think it will become a form of contraception as the doctor will be able to tell which women seriously want the termination and which women have been careless and just need a quick exit.

I do agree with abortion, but not as late as 24 weeks. I think in certain circumstances, a termination is a good thing. If the mother knows she won’t be able to give the baby the love and attention it needs then surely she’s being sensible by having an abortion?

Having the procedure available at local surgeries, as long as the doctors have all they need to care for the women properly, is a good thing in my opinion.
