Real vs. Artificial: What Christmas tree do you prefer?

For many, the tree is a vital part of Christmas. Whether it be fake or real there’s nothing more exciting than decorating the tree ready for Christmas. What I want to know is which you prefer? Surely there’s nothing better than the smell of a real Christmas tree?

This year we’re the proud owners of an artificial tree. Please note my sarcasm, because to be honest I hate artificial trees. The thing is, it’s the safest option with a little 18-month old running riot. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a beautiful fake, it’s hard to tell the difference but to me nothing beats a real Christmas tree.

How about you? Which do you prefer?

I have an artificial tree. I made the decision in 1992 to go artificial after seeing so many cut trees thrown out in the country on the side of the roads, and after being fed up with all the mess of cleaning up the needles year after year.

I have had the same tree in all that time and when I miss the pine smell (which I do) I spray some essential oils here and there on the tree branches and it smells like a fresh forest.

It used to be, when shopping, and the question was paper or plastic, I would say, ’save a tree’ and took the plastic. Now, when asked, I choose no bags if possible, and end with ’save an artificial Christmas tree’.

It is the right move with a little one in the house to have an artificial tree, so don’t feel too bad. And think of the money you will ultimately save, after using the tree year after year.

    Your tree looks beautiful!

    Merry Christmas to all!

    Michael
