I guess almost everyone on the planet has heard about Madeleine McCann, the mysterious disappearing child, but is there really still a chance she is alive?
Madeleine is probably the most ever looked for person, with all the media attention is there really still a chance that the little girl is still alive?
As we have also seen Gerry and Kate McCann going backwards and forwards in the investigation, this has raised eyebrows.
Well here are some questions I think you should ask yourself:
- 1) Why did she get more media attention than other missing children before her?
- 2) When do we say enough is enough, and stop looking?
- 3) If Madeleine McCann is still alive, with this much media attention is it not impossible for her not to be found?

I think one aspect that plays in Madeleine’s favor is the fact that she is so young. Being so young, I think she is less of a threat to her abductor and therefore, they may keep her alive. We had a case in the US that probably matched Maddie’s publicity in our county with Elizabeth Smart. She was missing for nine months before being rescued from her abductors and returned safely home. Like others here, I pray to see that day come soon for Maddie.
As others here said, YOU NEVER stop looking for her until she is found. Enough is never enough! Like Lisa, I believe the McCann’s are totally innocent of their daughters disappearance. They may have used a lack of good judgement by leaving her alone in the hotel, but they suffered the ultimate price for that mistake. You can’t change the past so throwing it in their face is unproductive and incredibly inhumane. Think to yourselves, has their ever been a time during your life when your parents weren’t watching you every second when you were little, or a time when you didn’t have your child in sight. If the answer is no, than that’s commendable but doubtful. I had great parents growing up but if I was in the wrong place at the wrong time, there would have been opportunities for me to go missing.
Part of the reason she gets so much publicity is because of the fantastic job her parents have done to keep her in the media and keep Maddie on people’s minds. Because of them moving heaven and earth to find their daughter, everyone around the world knows what she looks like and that gives her a much better chance of being rescued.
The second and most unfortunate reason her case gets so much attention is due to the scandal aspect of it with the media speculating about how they killed their daughter. This case is a perfect example of the Don Henley song “Dirty Laundry” regarding the media. People seem to revel in other peoples nightmares which to me is nothing less than sadistic. Everyone with an ounce of humanity should support this family with all their heart during this horrible time for them.
Please support the McCann’s during this nightmare and never stop looking for Maddie. Some good people put together some very well done YouTube videos encouraging the search for Madeleine. I encourage everyone here to watch them because they capture the profound sadness off her disappearance and the importance of everyone continuing to look for her. The same song is used in both videos which are very well done.

Joe, I have read your comment, it is a great thought to know that children are still found 9 months down the line. Just breaks my heart the agony they have suffered in this time, it may be that Maddie is been treat well by a very well to do family, i hope that is the case, but it still does not alter the fact that she is away from the people who love her the most. we also know Maddie is what i call “a special baby” brought into the world by IVF, so why on earth would the parents have done something, I would have thought Maddie would have been treat as if she were gold dust.
Children bounce back and I hope she is found and this will be the case.
I have a lot of hate for the people who have done this, its hurting many, not just Maddie. I think about her every single day, I will not stop thinking about her, even though i dont know this family, i have watched the news from the day she went missing, I have checked the news everday hoping she has been found, to put an end to this torment. Its as if ive known them for years. If im doing this then i hope many others are also, this way Maddie is not forgotton.
The Portugese police from word go were so slack. The photofit of the man who was seen carrying a child should have been escalated immediately, how stupid is the Portugese Law, keep quiet dont say anything, Sorry but if this was my child i would not have shut up, I would have screamed it out to everyone if this was going to find my baby, the most precious thing in life.
I get frustrated when i see slack stupid comments in the news, I get annoyed when people talk so much Shite about the McCanns, saying they have killed her and disposed of her body, Get real people, Tabloids print Juicy gossip to sell their paper, dont be sucked in by this, have an open mind and go with what you think not what stupid tabloids print.
I have had so many debates with people about this and I cant believe how naive the public are. Wake up, put yourselves in their shoes and look at the whole picture.
I believe Maddie will be found one day and this will be down to that one person, in the right place, at the right time, who keeps an open mind. If it was me Id make the biggest scene ever, even if i was arrested, I would not give a F**k, I shout her and make sure i got hold of her even if id to fight abductors to get her back to her family, Id do anything as long as this brought this little princess home. If you dont do this and go to the police, its too late, they are long gone, seize the moment, seize Maddie
My thoughts and love are with you always Maddie x
Joe & Lisa,
I could not have said this better myself,
everyone’s forgetting the point which is maddie, i think about her everyday, and pray and hope she’s found soon. the portugese police could have found her already if they were focusing on finding her. and stop putting energy on framing the parent, and the private detectives can only do so much if they can’t talk to any of the police witness. am in barbados and i hope she’s with a wealth family and they bring her here on holiday and i will spot her. ‘man’ i tell you you i will not be runing to no police my first though will be get her away by the time you call police she will be gorn again and what can i say oh i saw her. maccann you’re doing a fantastic job you did what any loving parent would do trying to find your child i admire you for that. maddie is depending on you on all of us. for godsake she’s a baby it makes me so bloddywell angry, people that are saying how long will this go on, as long as it take when she is found is when we will stop. and the people that are saying this they are just as bad as the people that took her.
keep praying keep looking. we won’t forget about you maddie never.
stay strong maccans for maddie and i for one will be there with you every step of the way.
The Smiths in Barbados
Gav Mo & baby yaz
we love you
I would like to mention that lots of people refer to other missing children cases not getting the same attention. however, most of those missing children were abducted by one of their parents and sometimes taken to the country of origin of such parent. not to diminish the pain the of the parent that the child was taken from, at the least they know with whom their child is. it is different for the parents of maddie, she was taken by a stranger for only God knows what reasons. parental abductions often involve the other parent taking the child because they love the child and want to take care of them.
In South Australia 40 years ago 3 children went missing , I still genuinly believe they are still alive , I recall the Korean kidnap of Japanese children being found alive , I myself believe many young children are kidnapped as replacement children for parents who have lost their own , drugged and re programed like the North Koreans did . I will never stop looking for the Beaumont children that went missing over 40 years ago , and its possible that Maddie was kidnapped by the same person , yes its a very long shot , but the easy answers have yielded little , every possibility must be considered possible
If you have kids you must help solve these cases or risk the possibility of your children or grand children being a victim at some time in the future , the case simply can never be let rest until the people responsible are arrested and the children returned , until then there is still a very real chance they are all alive waiting for people who care to rescue them , the criminals clearly are experts and or have people of influence protecting them , ordinary kidnappers leave some clue , I suspect an organized kidnap like in North Korea for such a total blank to exist there must be professional involved IMHO
The most unfortunate part about the media in this case is that it started out with the focus being exclusively on finding Madeleine, and gradually turned to absurd scenarios about how the McCann’s are guilty of their daughters disappearance. I think when people see coverage like this on the news everyday, it unfortunately becomes a Soap Opera for people to talk about around the water cooler, and they become desensitized to the seriousness of the situation. What everyone should be thinking about is that there is a four year old little girl missing, she is scared and needs her family if she is alive, and she needs to be saved. Complaining that her parents shouldn’t have left her alone is non-productive, irreversible and I’m sure nobody regrets that decision more than they do. If you watch the first YouTube clip I put a link for on my last post (you might have to copy and paste it) you can clearly see the grief in Kate McCanns face. She needs her little girl back.
I agree with Molissa that the Portuguese Police have handled this very poorly from the beginning. I recall watching footage on the news showing Portuguese Police who were suppose to be checking all vehicles crossing the border hours after Madeleine’s disappearance. The footage showed them standing there talking in a group and letting cars drive by without a glance, some with blacked out windows. I remember thinking “don’t they care at all about this little girl”? I also heard stories about shop owners in Portugal refusing to let searchers hang pictures of Madeleine in their shop windows. There reason being “there are a lot of missing children in Portugal, so it wouldn’t be fair if we just hung up a picture of Madeleine” Basically, what they are saying is “It is better to help no one and do nothing than to help find this little girl”. Why not hang Madeleine’s picture up along with the other missing children in Portugal? To them, doing nothing sounded like the most fair thing to do?
To Lisa, I do the same thing you do turning on the news everyday in hopes of hearing that Madeleine has been found safe and returned home. In America, I don’t get much news coverage of Madeleine anymore, so I check the internet everyday in hopes of learning of her safe return. The story is big enough over here that is she is found, I’m sure it would immediately be all over our news so I usually interpret no news as bad news. Even though I live in Florida and she highly unlikely to be here, I still look for her.
