Gameplay on Nintendo Wii vs HDTV games in 1080i/p (Sony PS3 & Xbox 360)

hardly a fair question. anyone who says graphics doesnt actually want to game. Graphics are important to immerse us in the game world.. but a game without gameplay does not a game make.

Really, you are very shallow Daniel. This is intended only to get clicks and fire up the fanboys so you get some visits.

You are comparing something that is preferential (Gameplay) with something that is measureable (Graphics). Additionally, there always will be a cross section of gameplay for all users on each system (although I must admit Nintendo is usually heavily lacking in the more mature games content). So gameplay can be had on any of the three – Graphics cannot.

They are both important to me, But i would do without the best graphics if it meant i got a game i could play for 100+ hours. But the Wii ATM has only a few good games, Whereas the 360 and even the PS3 both have alot more games with better gameplay. So this question is what would i rather do without and the answer is neither, I get great gameplay and graphics with my PS3/360. Whereas my Wii sits ion my entertainment unit covered in dust and only comes out to show off the gimmicky controls.

You know, when I bought my Nokia with a 2MP camera and started taking videos and pictures with it I thought that was great. Then I bought a real camera, a DSLR 6MP and of course there’s a difference but I didn’t notice the difference until I went back and used my 2Mp camera phone and the pictures were just horrible on that, when at first I thought they were good, comparison.

So, to sum up, once you go High Def, I think you cannot go back, so get the Wii now, let the big boys fight it out for a few more years then get into the High Def game with cheaper prices and more games.

I agree with you Daniel. I would play the console that is the most entertaining and fun — clearly the Wii. To hell with the video crap that $ony and M$ want to hang on the machines. I have to go now, the pause on my “pong” is early over…

I think this question posed by Daniel only goes to show how stupid PS3 people really are.

Well the fact is you are all right, gameplay is very important…but and a big BUT, when you play games for many years like me (30 years old) graphics are just as important as gameplay.

So the Wii is not for everyday gamers, becuase it is very limited in my opinion…its all about gameplay and its very good at it. Keep it for parties and groups. My Sony PS3 and gamers like COD4 are just amazing…and you got to love graphics, and all PC gamers know this.

I love gaming! I play games to have a good time and to socialize with family and friends. Great gameplay is what brings us together. The better the gameplay the more fun we have. Intuitive gameplay is what brings me to the console to play. Wii would like to play!

LOL, what is wrong with this article. With games like Super Mario Galaxy and Metroid Prime Corruption, I get both graphics and gameplay. I got a PS3 and I still can find anything to match the Wii. I sold my 360 in fear of the RRoD. Plus I dont like having to pay 60 bucks for a game that is going to end soon and lose its value within the next 3 months.

Nintendo has been in this game far longer than Microsoft and Sony so it is only justice that they should be on top.

If you prefer graphics, then try to just sit and watch it like a movie and don’t ask to play the game.

This is predicated on the fact that Wii=best game play and PS3/Xbox=best graphics. I think it’s more like:

Wii=9 out of 10 for game play
PS3/Xbox 360 = 7 out of 10 for game play

AND

Wii=4 out of 10 for graphics
PS3/Xbox=10 out of 10 for graphics

I just don’t think it’s a straight up trade off. I think the game play is negligible at best but the graphics are FAR superior on PS3/Xbox.

p.s. @Shade. You clearly haven’t ever played the PS3. I’ve played both and to say Super Mario Galaxy is even in the same neighborhood as the worst PS3 you must be on crack.

i really do not understand those people who are letting their wii gather dust(if that even true). afterall the wii is in demand and you could make a tidy sum on a console which you clearly do not care about.

nintendo wii is a pretty borin console and ps3 and xbox 360 are amazin and everybody thinks that nintendo wii is the bestt just because of the adverts but when u actually play on it it gets boring unlike ps3 and xbox 360.

LOL, so far I got 7 games for the PS3 and I can tell you from experience that with games like Super Mario Galaxy, PS3 or the 360 has a hard time matching the Wii. I am not the only one that thinks like this, just look at the evidence of REAL video game players and the reviews. Why is Super Mario Galaxy ranked as Game of the Year. I admit, there are some effects that definitely look better on the PS3, like the realness of Water in Unreal Tournament, or the detail of the ceramic flooring on Orange Box, but Nintendo clearly has proven that they are the most experience when it comes to developing games.

Come on man, I can tell you are a rookie. You must be about 15 years old. Do you have a high def tv? Do you even have a Wii? Stop looking at the pics on the internet and start playing the games for yourself. I have a PS3 using the High Definition Media Interface Cables and I have the Wii using the HD Component Cables. Even though the resolution is clearly better for the PS3, there are some effects on Galaxy that simply screams wow. Nintendo said, that they dont need a high specification system, they will rely upon their skill in developing and it shows that the Wii is definitely sufficient when it comes to graphics. If Galaxy isn’t enough, then SSBB is going to show us more.

so gameplay = 10 out of 10
and graphics well as you guessed= 10 out of 10

just finishin it off should be done by May 2008! and I am not bullshitin…just wait guys it’ll be worth it !

Daniel, you sir are a twat. I’m over 30 with over 20 years gaming experience and gameplay is the essence of ALL great games not the graphics.

I have had all three systoms first the Wii loved it for about a month it got old fast I only kept it for that long because you can play gamecube games.Next my 360 got the RROD simply got it fixed they even sent me a free game. Then got my PS3 and had it for a while but the games werent as fun as the 360 they focused so much o beng real they werent fun that is why i have my 360 because it dosent have better graphics than the PS3 or funner gameplay than the Wii but just enough of both.

Wow really i have all three systems too, the wii is for kids and 30 yr. olds that are fat. The Xbox 360 is not that bad of a system but breaksdown to easy i mean it comes with a removable hd kinda like an oversized memory card but if you place it in a system that has ever had the RROD you get it too (its like the freakin AIDs lol) But the ps3 i havnt had a problem with imean yeah all thats come out is sports games and first person shooters but it has its perks like free online vs the 360 xbox live crap that you have to pay for also you get points instead of just saying how much money you have, no the make you freakin guess lol. Also the ps3 has alot more excluseves coming out for it so dont talk $hit because 360 sucks i mean when it first came out every single one of the 360′s were returned because they ****ed up.

ok first of all Bill… shut up ok were comparing systems its an opinion not facts just because sombody likes ps3 doesn’t make them stupid ok i have all three systems because ps3 is just easier to handle for me i mean you dont have to pay any thing for online… (the rest of my “Opinions” are on the 2nd page) yeah the wii does just sit there but when people come over its awesome because we can all have fun and git up and move but solo play sucks cause it gets old and with nitendo graphics it gets pretty gay i mean the best wii has done so far is BRAWL. the 360 is a great system it has good graphics and alot of exclusives which is a plus but it breaks way to easy. the ps3 i havn’t had any problems with and i had it when it first came out infact i have 2 ps3 lol ones an 40 gig the other 80. but all in all it just depends on what your into so don’t critisize what other people think about what they have.
