Truffles are one of the most expensive and luxurious food items in the world. They say, if you can afford to try a white truffle, then you’ve got to. Maybe that’s what billionaire Stanley Ho was thinking of when he bought this giant white truffle, weighing a whopping 1.5 kilograms at a recent auction.
The Macau casino mogul paid $330,000 for the truffle at an auction over the weekend. He outbid the likes of Damien Hirst and Sheik Mansoor Bin Zayed al Nahyan for the truffle.
Not only does Stanley Ho get the world’s biggest truffle, he also gets his name in the Guinness World Record book for topping the most paid for a truffle (previously held at $212,000).
The truffle was unearthed by truffle hunter Luciano Savini’s dog in Italy back in November.
