The Gucci story is to be bought to the big screen by Fox 2000. Ridley Scott will be directing the film with Scott Free and Giannia Facio producing. The film was initially Paramount Pictures, but after they put it in turnaround, Fox was there to pick it up.
The film is set to follow the story of the Gucci family in the 1970’s and 80’s, there era when its 153 shops moved $500 million in product annually.
The story will center around Maurizio Gucci, the grandson of founder Guccio Gucci who became the unlikely head of the family business. Maurizio’s story comes to a familiar end when, just before a daring fashion show debuting the clothes of newcomer Tom Ford, he was gunned down in front of his Milan apartment in 1995.
Ridley Scott is currently directing Leonardo DiCaprio and Russell Crowe in Body of Lies for Warner Bros.
