Despite being rivals, BBC, ITV and Channel 4 have decided to team up to deliver an on-demand service for their viewers. The service hopes to ‘bring together hundreds of hours of television programs in one place’.
The service, once called Project Kangaroo is yet to be approved by the suits over at the BBC Trust and the other broadcaster’s boards, but the wheels are in motions. I just hope that name gets changed!
The content from the three channels will be available for ‘free download streaming, rental and purchase via the internet, with expansion onto other platforms planned’.
The service is set to go live sometime in 2008.
