In Japan: Sony PS3 kicks Nintendo Wii’s Butt for 2 weeks

For 2 weeks now the Sony PS3 has kicked the Nintendo Wii’s butt in Japan and with the Christmas being the highest time for sales this could turn the tides on the PS3 losing in the game sales charts.
According to reports from CVG, the Nintendo dominated charts are starting to see the next-gen Sony Playstation 3 console finally hold its own.
The 2 Japanese market data companies are reporting different figures, but both say that the PS3 is topping sales in the last 2 weeks. Media Create puts the gap at 3,000 units, while Enterbrain has claimed the gap to be 17,000 units.

These are week to week games sales, not total. So it should be way higher than the rest (because it just came out right?), logically. And you’re welcome, sorry I didn’t spell it out for you

By using that argument you’re making the assumption everyone cares about graphics. They’re great and all, and I notice them, but they’re rather pointless to me.. afterall I still play games from the 80s/90s regularly.
What system has the better software? That’s up to you to decide, isn’t it? You mention Halo 3 and Ratchet, which no doubt are great games.. they’re just not something I care much about. If anything comes out for PS3 or 360 I personally see myself really wanting, then sure I’ll grab one.
You can say for sure which system’s hardware is the best, since you can grade on technology, but that really doesn’t matter much.. it’s the games. And which game is better is really up to the consumer’s tastes and interests to decide, not you or anyone else. In the end it’s all bout what games appeal to the most people to drive the most sales. World of Warcraft dominates in MMORPGs because it easily appeals to anyone, but I hate it compared to the MMORPG i spend my time on, which I believe is a better game (graphically, detail, everything).
Oh, and your little ‘americana’ statement kind of murdered any credibility you had to begin with. Idiots aren’t isolated to one place.. only an idiot would think otherwise.

Also, the best technology isn’t always the key (for those of us that are old enough, betamax versus vhs - incidently, that was Sony too!!! If you’re interested look it up in wikipedia).
As long as games company churn out the same old style of gameplay, with the standard controllers, then the PS3 and XBOX360 will be limited to audio and visual experiences. The Wii on the other hand is a great party machine. There are some good single player titles as well.
So far, the race is far from won, each machine has their own appeal but for now the Wii is able to reach a mass market that neither the PS3 nor the XBOX360 appeals to. Which owners will spend more money? Time will tell.
First of all, I am not a fanboy LMAO. I despise fanboys. You people are the fanboys, Sony has a few weeks ahead of Nintendo and you all swarm in here to bash Sony. I remember the days when Nintendo was a VERY VERY DISTANT THIRD PLACE, but if they had a strong month due a good game like Zelda, did *ahem* Sony Fanboys come a marchin’ to steal its thunder? Mmmm, not really, because people who favour Playstation or Xbox are generally to mature to argue and bicker about such an idiotic and stupid matter. And how am I a fanboy when I have all three consoles? I am in no way saying the Wii is a bad machine. In fact, I applaud Nintendo for finally getting something right in over a decade (Im sorry but everyone agrees that N64 and GCN were crap…even hardcore Nintendo fans, because I used to be one, amoung many many others). And as someone said above, all three systems have something unique. I will admit, I do play my PS3 more than anything, but I also love the Wii. Mario Galaxy rules. So there, no fanboy here.
Oh and to ryan_fanboy … lmao, you are sad. I actually dont want any system to be on top…but I defend a system and company I like when people attack it for no reason. Are you so threatened by sony haveing a good month that you have to spread your hate propaganda? My god, go back to school!!

ROFL I admit the GC was quite crap but how can you say that every one agrees the N64 was crap, the N64 is reguarded as one of the best consoles in history with Mario 64 and Zelda and the ocarina of time, also two games that are reguarded as 2 of the best ever video games “every one agrees”… my arse.

Yeah I say you are the fanboys because the split second someone says something bad about precious Nintendo, tempers flair. And not just Nintendo, another article may be sony, another microsoft. In this case it was Nintendo. So when Sony has a good article in the news, all of the Nintendites have to swarm in to deminish any positivity to the original article. Do you see what this thread has turned into? A battle between Nintendo and Sony suppremecy. And for what? Because Sony had a good week in sales, and some moronic Nintendo fans had to say their 2 cents, likely in the age bracket of 10-16. Anyway, Im not going to argue anymore with anyone on this biased site. Ill just leave by saying that sales of PS3 have increased by 300% as Im sure you may well know…and the numbers keep growing, whereas Wii sales are falling…especially in Japan. People were commenting on the title of the article, which you have to admit is silly. A few thousand units isn’t “kicking butt”.. I’m pretty sure you can admit to that. I doubt that this whole thread is full of ninty fanboys, most are complaining about the INCREDIBLY mis leading title, and when the wii was out selling the ps3 6 - 1 in Japan its a bit obviuos sales are going to fall. Do you have any idea how hard it is to keep up that momentum for any console developer?
And as said before by Brad its you who is flying of the handle and at no point in this thread does it say that sony is dead. This may be a bit imature but im afraid that im gonna have to do an impression of you.
