TweakTown have done a hands-on review with the ASUS GeForce 8800GT 512MB Graphics Card, and with 18 pages of information you are going to have a lot of reading.
They explain the good and bad of the 512MB ASUS GeForce 8800GT card, taking you from an introduction and what’s in the package, through to the benchmarks and final thoughts.
Although the supply of the more expensive ASUS 8800GT is in great shortage, they managed to get one and see what exactly ASUS has done with the card.
Many PC gamers know that overclocking tends to help a graphics card and many games today put a lot of pressure on PCI Express based cards, TweakTown found that the ASUS 8800GT hit the same wall as the MSI card when overclocked.
The wall both MSI and ASUS cards hit was 1900MHz DDR on the memory and 660MHz on the core.
Downsides they found was the cooler on the 8800GT card was rubbish and runs way too hot, availability is stretched, ASUS tends to be more expensive but on a positive note you get great features for your money and this card is likely to stay on the top of peoples buy list for a while yet.
Although the 8800GT does tick most of the right boxes, it may not last much longer with new cards coming like the G92 based 8800GTS and others early next year.
