Sony Gets Desperate: half price Software Development Kit (SDK) for PS3

As a Sony PS3 owner I have enjoyed seeing more PS3 games coming to the console week after week, but I also know that Developers have not been as interested to develop video games for the PS3 as they are for the Xbox 360.

Well you could say Sony is getting desperate by halving the price of the SDK (Software Development Kit) for the Playstation 3 OR you can say they are getting smart.

The PS3 SDK price will be cut to $10,000 in the U.S. and 7500 Euros in Europe add this to the price cut of the games console and increased sales following that…things are looking up.

Do you think this will bring more game developers to the PS3?

    PS2 started at 20k+ – dropped to 10k around 14months in.
    PS3 started at 20k+ – dropped to 10k around 12months in.

    Im agreeing with jast here. I think your a retard. Sony knows that with a price cut, crap load of good games coming out and now even more incentive for developers to make good games they are going to own this generation. They just want to get things rolling faster so maybe the distance between them and the wii can be shortened.

    You biased jackass Sony isn’t getting desperate they cut the cost of the SDK after the first year with the Playstation 2 also back when the PS2 WAS THE MOST DOMINATE GAMING SYSTEM EVER! Do your homework before you bash something positive for Sony.

    Yeah – you guys are all tools. They dropped the prices on their previous consoles after a first very successful year. In this situation you’re dealing with much more expensive hardware, and a very poor first year showing. So Jast – why did they wait 14 months on a successful console, and only 12 months on a complete failure of a console? This is pure, obvious, and pathetic “please make games for us!!!”

    Anyone checkout the yearly profit for EA games? 270Million from Xbox, 59Million from Wii . . oops . . 17Million for PS3 . . oh yeah, it cost more and takes longer to develop for the PS3 . . . What game maker in his right mind would develop for the stupidly hard PS3? yes, no one, Ps3 is now getting 15% of the game maker’s next year budget . . Xbox and Wii are where the money is.

    Good move Sony! Blu-Ray die a slow and painfull death.

    Sony cutting prices, sales increasing. Things are finally looking up for Sony. Ummm, not really. Price cuts are SUPPOSE to cause an increase or prevent a decline in sales. What would be the point if they didn’t? This is normal. The time frame in which they choose to do things depends on competition and their ability to do facilitate changes. With that said, its not as though Nintendo and MSFT are in no position to do the same.

    Bill, what that report doesn’t show is how much EA made on the PS2…

    Developers know SONY is not going to give up on it’s product, just look at the PSP, they refuse to let it go, the same will be for the PS3, they will only get more sales in Both Europe and Japan this Christmas, come next year when whatever great shooter Americans are waiting on, then the tieds will turn..

    As far as Blue Ray… fuck that, and HD DVD…

    Man this site is always freakin biased. I suppose its not a desperate move by MS to sell Xbox’s with a free version of halo 3 or to put out a 3 yr warranty and 1.17 billion devoted to fixing faulty systems because of poor quality. This crap has got to stop product reviews I am sure got some kind of monetary reward from MS to bash sonys PS3 as much as possible. I think it also should be noted that this site should not be consider a “NEWS” worthy source of information and should be taken out of searches done thru google’s “NEWS” search engine.
