Jetmax International Ltd, along with the U.S Consumer Product Safety Commission, has recalled around 36,000 boy’s and girl’s storage racks with canvas totes after an 8-month-old boy died after he pulled on the storage rack and it fell over. The top rail landed on the infant’s neck and he was asphyxiated.
The storage rack is made from wood and has nine removable canvas totes. The boy’s storage rack has natural wood with red, yellow, green and navy canvas totes while the girl’s storage has white coloured wood with pink, yellow, lime and purple canvas totes.
The storage racks were sold at Wal-Mart under the brand ‘Home Trend 9 Canvas Bin Boy’s and Girl’s Organisers’ from August 2005 through July 2005 and Ollie’s stores nationwide from July 2006 until June 2007.
Consumers are advices to stop children using the storage racks and contact Jetmax International to receive a free repair kit that will add stability to the base.
