Amazon to Debut Kindle eBook Reader: event in New York on Monday

Mark ‘Rizzn’ Hopkins from Mashable has been looking for eBooks and ePaper solution for close to 10 years, he reports that Amazon are about to debut the Kindle eBook reader this Monday at a “high-profile event in New York”.
The features of the Kindle eBook reader will include EVDO access via Sprint, a direct connection to the Amazon eBook store, a Wi-Fi connection, an e-mail address and a headphone jack for audiobooks.

All this looks very promising, but then comes the problem and that is the price of $399 and the very disappointing lack of a backlight.
Would you pay $399 to be able to purchase and read books?
