Is the new Zune Player from Microsoft that good?

The new Zune player from Microsoft has to do very well as the previous version was not that good and early reports do show that the new Zune has got off to a good start. The second-generation Zune costs $250 for the 80GB version, and is a great alternative to the classic 80GB iPod from Apple.
Macworld has said that the downside for the Zune is that the 80GB version is about the same size as the Apple 160GB iPod, but if the Zune got as popular as the iPod then I could see newer version being released much quicker than it has taken this new model to reach the stores.
As with the iPod and the Zune they both have their problems, but one annoying feature on the Zune is the 20-step digital volume control, sometimes I would set my volume and it would be too loud, then I would knock it down one and it would be too low.
Do you think that the new Zune player is as good as the iPod?

Based on the features, yes i do. And i tthinks microsoft did some market research indeed, to put such an amount of stuff into zune 80. I would love it if they advertise it more because most buyer are if it’aint shiny i ain’t buyin people… Missing out on…
Zune looks nice and its new functions are great but iPod still is the best. Nothing compares to the iPod interface and design, although Zune really seems like a good product. Have you seen this iPod Touch ad made by an user? http://www.weshow.com/us/p/21278/home_made_ipod_touch_ad
It shows in less than 30 seconds why Zune is good but an iPod is an iPod. Period.
