RIM Sues LG Over Their Black Label Brand
November 13, 2007 | Filed under Cell Phone Information, News

Legal proceedings in the US between Research in Motion (RIM) and LG have begun. RIM are claiming that the South Korean Company’s Black Label brand is too similar to it’s own BlackBerry trademark.
RIM are no strangers to the odd lawsuit. Back in December of 2006 it sent Samsung a similar lawsuit but complained that the Samsung’s BlackJack handset brand would confuse consumers who were out to buy a BlackBerry. It wasn’t until February 2007 that the two companies settled their differences. Samsung backed down, dropping the BlackJack name and didn’t attempt to register it as trademark.
The only thing is, Samsungs BlackJack handset did look a bit similar to the BlackBerry. The LG Black Label handset’s (Chocolate and Shine) don’t look a thing like the BlackBerry so why are they worried?
