Pacemaker : Powered by your own heart?

Researchers have been able to design a pacemaker which will work off the person’s own heart beat, this sounds really strange and I am definitely asking the question, but how?
David Tran and his colleagues from Stanford University, explain how it will be possible for the pacemaker to generate and store more electricity than is needed to operate. Also with the battery being self-sufficient as it were, would help to prolong the life. of the battery. At present batteries in pacemakers last up to ten years, although normally they only last for around 5.
I think that this is a great invention as it could potentially be a great help to many people, also in respect of the patient not being operated on as frequently for the change of batteries etc. To read more on this pacemaker go to inventorspot.com
