It has been reported that the Maxtor Basics Personal Storage 3200, may have a nasty virus preloaded onto it. So, be aware if you have recently purchased one of these you don’t even need to be opening any dodgy emails to get a virus.

It is reported that a company who was sub-contracted to manufacture the drives are responsible. The virus is the sort that looks for passwords to online games and forwards them onto a server in China, it can also disable virus detection software and delete other viruses. In order to find out whether your device has been affected you will need to contact Seagate with your serial number to hand. For more information about this go to engadget
