Another week begins, bringing with it a gazillion Star Trek casting reports. The weekend saw the roles of Captain Christopher Pike, Janice Rand, Spock’s Mother being cast as well as some sneaky behind-the-scenes photos sparking more rumours.
We told you last week that Captain Christopher Pike will be played by 51-year-old Bruce Greenwood in the JJ Abrams reboot/prequel. So, what’s new?
IESB received photos from the set of Star Trek, many were just of extras outside a Warehouse in parkas, but some were very interesting indeed. In one of the photos, a woman looking very much like House star Jennifer Morrison is sitting outside the set. It was speculated she would be playing Janice Rand, although we were waiting on confirmation. Morrison’s management then confirmed that she had been cast in the film, but no word on who she would be playing.
Recent reports claim she will be playing the role of Dr. Carol Marcus, a young civilian biologist and the future mother of Kirk’s son.
Also reported was that Australian actor Chris Hemsworth had been cast as Kirk’s father, George Samuel Kirk Sr. In the Star Trek novels, George Samuel was a Commander on the Enterprise twenty-five years previous to Kirk. In 2248, George Samuel Kirk Sr died mysteriously.
