New NBC Direct Service in Beta: Windows & IE only, no Mac support

NBC Direct Service Beta
It’s being summarized as an “All in all, a thumbs down for NBC Direct”, that’s just what mashable.com have said in their article about the new NBC Direct service that’s just hit Beta.

The bad points are:

  • NBC dropped iTunes distribution, so no support for iTunes
  • Supports Windows and IE only, so no Mac support
  • No mobile device integration
  • Current version includes unskippable ads
  • Episodes delete automatically after 48 hours

Although on the plus side it is nice to get free downloads of NBC shows for up to 7 days after they aired, and we should see many more features in the future that are not included now…remember it’s still only a beta.

Boycott Universal and NBC, etc. We need to hurt them where it hurts so that are inclusive and reasonable in their offerings.
