Plug-in Toyota Prius hybrid insight

Well now it looks like an official plug-in Toyota Prius hybrid might be insight as Toyota Motor Corp has just announced plans to study the U.S. consumer demand for just that (a Prius hybrid that runs on electric power only and can be recharged at a standard outlet).
When a senior Toyota executive was asked when this version would be launched, they declined to give any idea on a possible launch date.
It is well known that this kind of technology does reduce greenhouse gas emissions and fuel consumption.
