When you watch a movie, do you find that you go away mimicking the iconic line from the film? Well, a new survey has tallied up our most-mimicked movie lines and it seems that good old Arnold Schwarzenegger’s “I’ll be back” is the line we say more than any other.
The line comes from the iconic film The Terminator and comes from a part of the film where the action star utters the line to a reception desk cop minutes before he drove a car through the front of the police station.
Over 2,000 people were surveyed by website myfilms.com, a personalised film and cinema finder from the UK Film Council.
The survey asked readers which famous phrases we borrow from films to use in our everyday conversations. The poll included lines from Star Wars, Forrest Gump, Jerry Maguire, Dirty Harry and Dirty Dancing. The results showed that all the 10 most memorable film lines were spoken by male stars.
A spokesman from myfilms.com said, “Our research shows the huge influence films have over people, from life-changing experiences to the way we speak.”
The survey also revealed that women named Dirty Dancing as the film they would most like to have appeared in (who can blame them!) followed by Pretty Woman and Gone With The Wind. The men’s choice wasn’t so romantic. They opted for the Bond Films, Star Wars and Lord of the Rings!
So, what were the top 10 movie lines? Check them out below - do you agree?
