Sony PS3 XVID and DIVX
PSU are guessing that the Sony PS3 is going to get Xvid and Divx support when Home is launched; they make that statement following the news that after the Playstation 3 got the firmware 2.0 update it can now detect Xvid and Divx files as video options.

So I guess it does make sense that they are planning support for them video formats in the near future and with Home all about Entertainment it does add up.

If Sony does go ahead and support these formats on the PS3 then this will help a lot when importing videos into your PlayStation Home as Divx and Xvid are well known for their ability to compress long videos into much smaller sizes and still look great.

This is great now if they can just nail quick time formats then the machine will be the greatest thing I have ever bought.
