Threat to East Coast of Tidal Flood
By: Emma | November 8, 2007
Warning, to all people living on the East Coast, there is a “major tidal surge” that is threatening to hit the east coast which could lead to disastrous flooding over the next 48 hours.
The Environment Secretary Hilary Benn said a surge “of up to three meters is making its way down the North Sea”.
“There is a risk of flood defenses being toppled on the coast, particularly in East Anglia, the Norfolk Broads and the coast south of Great Yarmouth, including Lowestoft,” he said.
Six severe flood warning have been issued across the region, along with six further flood warnings and two flood watches. If you are at all concerned whether your area could be at risk of flooding then go to the environment-agency website.
