It has been reported that Disney are interested in hiring Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire director Mike Newell to direct their big screen live-action adaptation of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.
An article in Variety claimed Super Producer Jerry Bruckheimer made an offer to Newell when he met with studio executives about the project earlier this week.
Prince of Persia is an action adventure video game following the adventures of a prince who teams with a rival princess to stop an angry ruler unleashing a sandstorm capable to destroying the world.
The first draft of the script was written by Jordan Mechner with further drafts written by Jeffrey Nachmanoff.
Mechner has said that the movie won’t be a beat-for-beat adaptation of the game, but will ““some cool elements from the game and using them to craft a new story - much as ‘Pirates’ [of the Caribbean] did with the theme park ride.”.
Do you think a Prince of Persia movie will be a good idea?
