Babylon A.D Will Be 30 Minutes Shorter For US Audiences

Earlier this week, it was reported that Babylon A.D starring Vin Diesel has been pushed back to August 29th 2008. It was originally meant to be released on February 29th 2008. So why was the film pushed back?
Well, reports have claimed that the ‘Europeans are getting a longer cut of the film in theaters in early 2008 while Fox, which holds rights in most non-European regions, have requested a significantly shorter version of the film.’
So, the US version is getting a serious butchering hence the release date being pushed back. The European version of the film will run for two hours and forty minutes. Isn’t that a little too long for a sci-fi action movie? I think I agree with Fox - it’s far too long. But, will the film make sense after 30 minutes of it is cut out? I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
