Android Discussed By Google

Many people believed it wouldn‘t happen but, after a year in the making, Google has finally revealed its plans for the gPhone. The name is misleading though because it won’t actually be a phone, rather than a physical handset the gPhone will be an operation system known as the ‘Android’ platform.
During a conference call earlier today, Google and the CEOs of its partner companied in the Open Handset Alliance spoke about “Android”, the new mobile platform.
Google CEO Eric Schmidt said that they are ‘very, very happy’ to launch the global announcement that promises a ‘whole new mobile experience for users’.
The excitement for this project was justified, Android promises ‘new applications never before possible’ resulting in an ‘unprecedented global platform’.
The CEO of Deutsch Telecom Rene Obermann confirmed that T-Mobile would bring Android handsets to the market in 2008. He added that the T-Mobile Android offerings would allow ‘better than internet experience’.
When a Google spokesperson was asked if the gPhone would be forthcoming, they replied, “there will be not one, but a thousand gPhones”.
The revenues from Android will be shared between Google handset manufactures and operators. Sergey Brin, the founder of Google commented,
“Developing an open system with all the codes, to innovate in the same way that I did in those graduate offices 10 years ago. I can’t wait to see what the next generation will create with these tools”.
