The Russains have been report as planning to use one of their Myasishchev M-55 spy planes as a cellphone tower from early next year. It is apparently to happen over Malaysia in or around February/March and it is said that an ‘unnamed Western firm’ is to be in discussions with the manufacturer about reinstating production to use these planes specially for this purpose.
The positive thing about this is that the planes could be used to provide cell phone cover in disaster areas and it has around a 5,00 km range and 17,00 meter altitude which means a larger area can be covered.
