Research has revealed that a over a billion text messages are sent every week by us Britons and as many were being sent in 1999, I can certainly agree with that as I am constantly texting, I would say an easy 2,000 per month.
According to the Mobile Date Association (MDA) there was 4,825 billion text messages sent in September of this year, which shows an increase of 25% on 2005.
“The UK text volumes show no real signs of abating”.
“The UK sits within the top six of the global league of countries sending text messages”.
“While the trend towards operators offering ‘all-you-can-eat’ tariffs increases, this will act as a catalyst for consumers’ passion for all things mobile.” said MDA chairman Mike Short
Britons love the deals which mobile phone companies are always shouting about and the MDA is an industry group which is there to promote the use of mobile data. There has also been an increase in businesses texting between employees and their customers, which is sometimes more convenient to do.
