Teenager Jailed For Two Years After Shooting His Sister

The teenager who accidentally shot his 12-year-old sister while playing around with him mother’s illegal handgun has been jailed for two years. The 17 year-old was playing with the .38 snub-nosed revolver as he watched TV with Kamilah and their eight-year-old twin sisters.
A single bullet hit the girl in the forehead as she lay on the sofa. Kamilah died the next day with her mother Natasha 33, at her side.
Natasha Peniston had been hiding the gun at their home and was jailed for three years at the same hearing as her son at Manchester Crown Court. Kasha pleased guily to manslaughter and his mother admitted possession of an illegal firearm and ammunition.
The court was told Natasha Peniston had been ‘prevailed upon’ by a boyfriend to look after the gun. She hid it in the garden, but told her son about it before leaving for London on the fateful day her daughter was shot.
The pairs relatives wept as the pair were jailed and led down from the dock. Mr Justice Holland said it was inevitable that Kasha retrieved the gun and played with it. He went on to say that Kasha had already given himself a lifelong punishment by shooting his own sister dead.
