It was only a few months now since Nikon gave us the P5000 and it seems perfect timing they have released a new model in time for the holiday season. The Nikon Coolpix P5100 is a small step up from the P5000, however it does seem as if Nikon have rushed it a bit with this new digital camera as packing it with a 12-megapixel sensor in this smaller unit does seem the wrong way to go.
You can’t fault the image quality when compared to similar cameras, but when it came to using ISO higher than 400 then you could tell that the Nikon Coolpix P5100 lacked behind in performance. However with this problem in mind, the P5100 more than makes up for it with the on board controls which helps to bring this camera under control.
