Inevitable: Sony PS3 vs Xbox 360 like Microsoft vs Apple

When we get two closely matched products or brands I feel it’s inevitable that you will get comparisons and I am not talking just here and there, but forever.
Take Microsoft vs Apple for example; they have been compared for years on many products and services they release.
The Sony PS3 vs Xbox 360 debate, this will go on for many years to come not only on the same name games appearing on each console but also with different frame rates, hardware and software.
My opinion is that both of these game consoles will become much more than just for games, they will network more with other software and hardware.
These next-gen systems are much more than the old Xbox and PS2; although they will continue to be compared I feel there is room for both of these systems in today’s market.
The Xbox 360 will go the IPTV route and the Sony PS3 will bring Freeview TV and other TV services.
That is just one example but they will both feature different software and similar software, as an owner of both I am happy as I have seen news of many products and services that will be exclusive to each machine.
This means there will be times when I use just one of the systems for weeks, but the other will always get used when another product or service is released exclusive to that machine.
Do you need both? In short no, but it is worth it.

there would be no market without a competition factor driving both sides. a symbiotic relationship has been formed and therefor one cannot live without the other. halo 3 sucks :O
I certainly agree, competition gives the consumer better products, without Xbox classic, PS3 would not have a Hard Drive, without PlayStation who would give a crap about Sega and NINtentdo beyond children. When I was young people would say when you are 14 years old you will leave those consoles for the kids and expierance real gaming on the PC, I do not see a mouse and Keyboard in my future any more, but a controller and mass produced refined games.
I do not find anything respectable about the PS2’s entrance into gaming (The market strategy to take down the dreamcaste), but PS3 has to live for a while to ensure inovation beyond new controls and bad graphics is alive vs great graphics and a refined dreamcast controller on the xbox. If possible think of what we could have gotten if PS3 was as it was spec’ed to be in Sony’s concept presentation at E3 06′ Remember play games on 2 tvs with seven controllers, too bad it was a lie. BUt we do have great systems right now and I am happy enough to enjoy them both.
Sure compitition keep them producing good games. If the libary is good by 2009 I’ll buy a PS3. For now I will be happy with my 360. But really this stuff is getting expensive. Thank God I got a lot of old Xbox games to trade in as well as the old system.

Whoever posted this needs to be shot onsight for lack of insight. I say this because microsoft vs. Apple compared to Xbox vs. PS3 is a dumb argument. For starters window is a horrible product due the fact that there is NO competition for microsoft when it comes to windows products. Second the xbox 360 is beautiful Microsoft product due to fact that MS is competing with Nintendo and Sony. SO that is why MS took a 1 billion $ loss from it. Also in regards to Apple they have a beautiful product and the PS3 is cool but not the strong developer platform that the Xbox 360 has become. Also Sony has cut the price of the PS3 and lauched two new models inside the first year. A step that xbox 360 didnt do because it didnt need to. Also windows is not built to impress, or function well, it is build to make MS money nothing more.
xbox 360 and wii by far beat the Playstation 3. For the same price as a Playstation 3 you can buy a Xbox 360 and a Wii and both are better than the Playstation 3.

Dude halo 3 rocks if you think it sucks then you have problems…and by the way Xbox 360 is better than PS3. The Xbox 360 can play stuff like Gears of war, FEAR, and of course Halo 3. plus it has Xbox live. The only good thing about PS3 is it can play “Resistance fall of man”.
Man your an ideot, plus your paying to play online. An example of how the ps3 is better than the 360 is heavanly sword. The 360 could never run that game it wouldnt be able to handle that many characters on screen at once, it hasnt got the processing power
Also you will see a massive difference in the next year or two because when you are buying a game you will be getting at most 8 gigs of data while with blue ray you will be getting 25 possibly 50 gigs. This doesnt matter now but in the coming years it will mean the difference. Oh and another gd thing about the ps3 is that you can run linux, so you dont have to run an inferior operating system, and you can still play your games on a surprior system
MAn there are still alot of pathetic people DEFENDING MS like it is the American flag. I have not seen anyone defending the Xbox 360 who has any valid long lasting reasons of why I would want to buy one. I already own the PS3 and for me to want to but the 360 would be foolish. Microsoft only has a large install base of people because the came out with a cheaply made vidio game console early on and released it before the PS3 had the both been released at the same time there would be no question what platform would be winning. In MY opinion the only reason people defend the system is because they have a complex about there system being inadequate. That and there the M$ goons that got a fat check to derail any positive news about the competition.
