David Dobkin Signs On To Direct The Flash

With the news of a Justice League of America movie, we all expected it to be the catalyst for further DC superhero movie projects. Sure enough, it will be with Warner Bros planning to make a movie based on The Flash. Originally Shawn Levy was signed on to write the script, but leaved the project for undisclosed reasons.

So, is The Flash movie put on the back burner? Of course not! Director of Wedding Crashers and Fred Claus David Dobkin has signed on to make the project. Speaking about his ideas for the movie, Dobkin claimed The Flash will be set in the same universe as the Justice League movie, and will follow the Wally West incarnation of the character.

Both Wally West and Barry Allen are said to feature heavily featured in the JLA movie, which means the actor chosen to play the Flash in JLA will also be gunning for the solo project.

Ryan Reynolds has expressed interest in the role if the script’s incarnation was Wally West. I think Ryan Reynolds could pull of a superhero role. He certainly moved up in my estimation in The Nines.

They’re already lining up The Flash movie before JLA has gone into production, so it’s obvious they’re hoping to strike while the iron is hot with this solo project.

So you think Dobkin is the right guy to direct a Superhero movie? After all, he did direct Wedding Crashers and Shanghai Knights!
